Welcome to the blog for our English 100 course! This blog will have everything you need for this course: the syllabus, readings, handouts, assignment descriptions, and other wonderful resources.
WHAT TO DO HERE...
Each week you must reply to the blog for the week.It will be titled Week One, Week Two, and so on. At the end of the week(Sunday evening), I'll record who responded, so you won't be able to go back and make up your responses from previous weeks. Remember, the point is to begin to write as a habit...The best way to exercise this new habit is to overdo it. Don't just respond. Instead, respond, then wait, then respond to someone's response. Turn it into a dialogue. This is non-graded writing. But it still matters. Do too much. Be obnoxiously verbose!
I am pretty positive that most or all cities will look somewhat like this here picture. We most definitely will be very advanced in our technology in our society or completely ran by technology in our city. The atmosphere will take a drastic change most importantly due to the way we changed the environment or our everyday habits. It will be a sight to see, however it turns out in the end when everything is all said and done.
I personally do not believe cities will exsist in the future, just basing off what has occured naturally in the past 50-60 years. If there were cities, i am sure it will be all ran by computers and technology. The human race will no longer be the most advanced organism. I would not be surprised if cloans were made. Possibly early models of flying cars, but primarely more electrical cars than anything. It would remind me a lot like the movie minority report. I just have a hunch the human race will dwindle dramatically within the next 50 to 100 years. I can say i would not like to be living during those times, life seems less relevant as technology takes over our lives.
It really depends on the country. Some will hire artistic sculptors to create abstract buildings to signify the unity of the nation.
While others will still be dealing with issues, be it political or otherwise. So while there will be new discoveries and inventions, cities will be renovated but not to such extremes for a "futuristic" look, but rather for necessity.
Certain nationalities will dwindle to almost nothing. Blond hair and blue eyes would be considered exotic. America's melting pot would progress even farther.
Hydrogen powered energy would be used for everything, from powering cars to recharging the batteries on your Nintendo hand held. At least in the Asian countries. Inflation would sky rocket; what used to be middle class would now be considered on or below the poverty line. People will still make bad investments.
The "Ideal beauty" wouldn't be a skinny or muscled physic, but a healthy body, which would still cause discrimination. We will narrow down what exactly causes cancer.
Gaming will be considered the new epidemic as companies create more games used to make the player addicted. Farmville will be banned in most countries. AA meetings would be followed by GAA meetings; gamer addicts anonymous.
I dont believe our cities will be like this. Sure everything will be ran by technology and computers but will our cities actually look like this i dont think so. It looks more like a video game than what real life would look like. i think these days people are to suck into video games to to really grasp the meaning of life and be realistic about the way things should and need to be.
I think that cities in the future will be completely run by technology if not non existent. Mainly because of the way life is now, as time progresses this world we live in becomes more dependent on technology leaving humans to mean so much less.
Technology is pretty much destroying all emotional and physical ties between humans. If habits don't change, I feel people will die younger because of all chemicals used to preserve foods and maybe even radioactivity from electronic devices. When I think of the future, I mostly think of all the etiquette, morals, and manners that will become extinct. And I agree with what Moocigar said about blonde hair and blue eyes being exotic and what he said about the melting pot. I also think that one language will come to dominate and unite more nations, or one will be modified so as to be universal.
I believe that the cities here in the United States will some how look like this in the picture. I agree with ecamscho when he said that technology is destroying emotional and physical ties between humans. I mean most people prefer to stay logged into MySpace rather then going outside and doing sports or anything else physically demanding. The fact that the corporations are adding and adding more things into smart phones is making things like books or actual communication harder for humans to understand themselves or the things surrounding them. For an example apps to learn how to cook can mean the exiction of cook books. Maybe the United States will look like this but i believe othere who are less advanced will not look like this. Mexico for an example, they have a lot of foods that are high in fat and yet obesesity is hardly ever heard of. Mexico City is an exception because that city is gradually adjusting themselves to the American way of life. You still see the old way of life in smaller rual areas of Mexico and of how people would still enjoy a family meal and sometimes sit outside to share their day. I believe that people will less techonolosy are still rooted to their morals. Maybe what the people in the United States need to do is every once in a while leave their internet world and pay attention to their surroundings and to the things we may not have in the future and to take advantage of the time that life gives us for free.
wow!everything here looks so featurized, nonever seen before and this can be the start of a new era.Now thw question. I think that cities are going to be much more different than today. Just think of all the smog in the air right now, there is no way we can stop the pollution and contamination to stop, unless we all work as one. but its impossible. Next thing you you'll know is that we'll be flying in cars and living in floating cities.Of coarse im not going to be alive to see this world in 100 years.Another thing is that our world is having alot of big dissasters all aaroung the world, maybe we wont all live tomorrow, who knows. This picture doesn't really seem like a city to me.
I think the world in a 100 years will look alot like that picture. Now the way technology is heading and If you seen that movie WALL E. and how all the people moved to space and didnt have to do nothing for thereselves. Or even have to raise there own babies. Thats how we are going to end up if technology dont slow down.
i think that cities in a 100 years wont be like this it could be something close but not exactly. going from how history is i think cities will look something close to what we have now just a more technology. the picture looks more like a movie scene then a city it also depends on were its located because some countries are way more advanced then others are
I honestly think that cities in a 100 years would look like the picture. I think this world has chage a lot from the past few years image in 100 years the world would be complety distroy. I think it would not be earth any more it would be a plane were everything would be flying even cars.
I do not believe that our cities would look like that picture. Even though were at a pace to do so, i still beilieve the cities would be the same, but with more technology to it. Our technology would not be as advance as what the picture shows. Why, because there are lots of problems getting to that point such as the debates of structure buildings and if the cost is available with the budget. We all know money is always the problem trying to get new technology being done. We should worried about the peace of our world if we want our cities to look like that.
I believe that in the next one hundred years, there probably will be little change in your cities. They most likely will be more crowded and there will be less and less neighborhoods. I also believe that technology is the next one hundred years will have tremendous influence on how we live our lives and will become more affordable for everyone.
Cities will look like this in 100 years because the technology is so advancethe later in the futere it will be more advance. If i were to live in a city like this it will be fun and will enjoy every minute. Cities will have less trafic and people may even use plains more than they used it today.
well i remember around the year 2000 they were discussing that by this year, 2010 we would have flying cars already and something about a certain car having a shower in the side of it just like a gas tank.. i could never forget because i always said to myself that when this actually happens , i totally want one. but i think in 100 years, everything will be completely run by technilogy, to the point where without out no one would know how to truly run their own lives. i think a lot of robotics will be used and i do believe there will be flying cars, if cars at all. everything will take only a second to get. instead of, for example, shipping in 3-5 business days, itd be an automatic thing and like touch the screen receive your item. itd be interesting to be alive to see what would happen.
i feel that the cities in the futer will look the same. when i was a little girl in the 80's we thought that the 20th century was going to be really futuristic. its now 2010 and the only thing that has really changed is the wardrobe.
i think that the cities will look like the picture because of everything that is changing in are life time. i thing that nothing will be the same as it is today.
